Family vintners for over 100 years, the Catenas are recognized for their pioneering role in high-altitude viticulture in Argentina. This wine is sourced from the family's historic vineyards in the Agrelo Appellation, a region well-regarded for Cabernet Sauvignon in Mendoza. The appellation´s deep clay soils and moderate climate produce wines that are revered for their robust tannins and smooth, lengthy finish.
92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
2018 was a good year for Cabernet Sauvignon in the classical zone of Mendoza, and the peppery 2018 Appellation Agrelo Cabernet Sauvignon shows good ripeness and typicity. It is fresher than in 2017 and with better-integrated oak too. It's fruit-driven and juicy, with fine-grained tannins, very representative of the variety.
This very special single-vineyard Cabernet is best paired with a thick rib-eye steak or roast leg of lamb. The wine also pairs well with mushroom dishes and salty and fatty smoked meats.
