The Dalmore 45 Year Old, is a limited-release of a mere 500 bottles globally.
At 40 percent ABV (80-proof), the expression is beyond exquisite. Smooth, mellow, and with a finish that might as well last a lifetime. Beyond that, its flavor profile stands out. Everything about it is reminiscent of all the sweet things life, nature, and good memories have to offer: dark chocolate, red berries, manuka honey, mild licorice, and more. On the nose, you’ve got almonds and cake—plus fruitier notes like Sanguinello blood oranges.
The flavor of this particular expression is unlike many Scotch whiskies. And that can be attributed not just to its age but to its finish. The 45 was matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before being transferred to two vintage Graham's Port Colheita pipes dating from 1961 and 1963.
But it’s not only the golden amber liquid that’s noteworthy. The Dalmore doesn't leave anything to chance—because it stands for quality through and through. Even its vessel (or decanter, as the whisky world likes to refer to it) is le top. The receptacle is made none other than by the distinguished French crystal house, Baccarat. The hand-blown decanters feature The Dalmore’s 12-point Royal Stag emblem produced by Royal Warrant Holders Hamilton & Inches. The stag is a symbol of the brand’s promise to remain at the pinnacle of single malt.
