Magnus has been created in honour of Highland Park's founder, Magnus Eunson. A descendent of the Vikings who had settled on Orkney hundreds of years earlier, Magnus was a butcher and church officer by day and a bootlegger by night. Magnus set up his illicit still in a small stone hut at High Park, overlooking Kirkwall, and this remains the distillery's site today. His legacy continues in the bold and uncompromising approach to whisky making, with very little changed in the way Highland Park has been crafted in the last 220 years.
Nose: fresh, honeyed and malty with soft citrus tones.
Palate: the smoke is delicate, a touch waxy with citrus and subtle sherry.
Finish: dry and spicy with clean smoke, leather and earth.
