Before starting his own vineyard in Rioja Alta in 1975, Juan Peagaricano Akutain worked at CVNE and La Rioja Alta. Since then, he and his son, Jon Peagaricano, have worked to produce traditional Rioja wines on a smaller scale, collecting grapes from their own plots and harvesting them by hand. The Reserva is a classic expression of Rioja that has been matured for 17 months in mostly American oak and then a year in bottle before being released. This has the classic coconut and spice notes, as well as a lot of red and purple fruit. A lovely fall wine. Tempranillo 93%, Garnacha 5%, Viura 2%.
