Argiano Brunello di Montalcino 2014
This wine is distinguished by its elegance and its deep ruby red colour. It presents a good concentration on the mid-palate and a persistent aftertaste, with a rounded and voluptuous body and interesting, silky tannins. It unites potency and elegance and has a promising future. With its tempting perfumes of red berries and its clean freshness, the complexity of this wine presents an excellent balance. To fully appreciate its qualities, decant the wine at least one hour before serving.
92 Points - James Suckling
Love the aromas of flowers and strawberries with cherries that follow through to a medium body, firm and silky tannins and a juicy finish. A nice combination of savoury character and fresh acidity. Drink or hold.
91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Argiano's 2014 Brunello di Montalcino is visibly thinner and leaner compared to any other past vintage that comes to mind. The aromas are stripped down as well, but I do think there is a good chance that they will flesh out with more time in the bottle. Brunello tends to be at its thinnest drinking point upon its initial commercial release. Another 12 months should be of considerable help, and I accept the idea that this wine will take on more volume in as little as 6 to 12 months. Bottle production is usually around 130,000, but this year only 80,000 bottles were made.
