Product description

Castell'in Villa's property was purchased by Princess Coralia Pignatelli della Leonessa and her spouse in 1968. The estate, which is located in the southern portion of the Chianti Classico area, is famed for producing some of Italy's most traditional and age-worthy wines. However, it took a step further to set itself apart from other producers by gradually releasing stocks into the market after they were declared ready to drink. Consumers can now enjoy superb wines that have reached a specific level of maturity as a result of this process.

Castell'in Villa is known for its superb Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva (100 percent Sangiovese) wines, as well as a delicate Super-Tuscan "Santacroce" combination of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon.

92 Points - Vinous    The 2017 Chianti Classico will delight Castell’in Villa fans. No, it is not a repeat of the 2016. Let’s get that out of the way. Instead, readers will find a silky, wonderfully nuanced Chianti Classico that is ready to charm right out of the gate. All of the estate signatures are present, but the 2017 benefits from a bit more immediacy because of the warm growing season. Sweet red cherry, cedar, tobacco, sage and dried herbs linger nicely. The 2017 is a gorgeous Chianti Classico. Best of all, it will drink well upon release.
