Chateau Clerc Milon, a fifth growth in the Bordeaux 1855 classification, is owned by the late Baron Phillipe Rothschild, of Chateau Mouton Rothschild and remains in the stable of wineries owned by Chateau Mouton, although the vineyard is a neighbour of Chateau Lafite, owned by another branch of the Rothschild family. The 45 hectare vineyard of Clerc Milon in Pauillac is planted to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon , 36% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and somewhat unusually for Bordeaux, 1% Carmenere. The wine is deep purple and presents aromas of fresh blackberries, dark cherries and cassis, which also appear on the palate as the rich velvety tannins envelop the mouth. This wine is very fresh with a long finish.
