Product description

In 1987, the Honigs made their first Cabernet Sauvignon. Under Michael Honig's direction, the winery has grown from a small "garage winery" to a much larger operation. Using solar power and sustainable farming methods, winemaker, Kristin Belair focuses on two varietals: Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon. This focus allows her to produce handcrafted wines that are a true expression of the vineyard.

Honig Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon offers bright blackberry, red plum, and raspberry fruit with notes of cranberry, black tea, spice, and coriander seed. Luscious and balanced, with toasty oak and a long finish.

92 Points - Wilfred Wong of Wine    The 2018 Honig Cabernet Sauvignon nicely defines this grape variety in the Napa Valley. This wine offers attractive aromas and flavors of black fruit, oak, and licorice. Pair it with slices of grilled ribeye in a toss with garden-fresh greens.

91 Points - Wine Spectator    Bright and open in feel, with damson plum and red currant notes, laced with savoury and bay leaf details, ending with a mix of red tea, singed cedar and sanguine echoes. Drink now through 2030.

90 Points - Jeb Dunnuck    The base 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley showed beautifully, with lots of darker currant and blackberry-like fruit supported by spicy oak, dried herbs, and a touch of loamy earth. Medium-bodied on the palate, it’s nicely balanced, with solid mid-palate depth, moderate tannins, and a clean, lengthy finish. This is pure, classic, well-made Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that has loads of character and should drink nicely for 10-12 years.
