Les Halos De Jupiter Chateauneuf Du Pape 2019

Product description

Reflecting the richness and elegance of Halos de Jupiter, Halos de Jupiter labels communicate visually the hierarchy of the appellations. Jupiter, the poets say, is the king of gods and men. It is also the largest planet in our solar system and the Halo is its closest ring. Chateauneuf du Pape, the leading appellation of the southern Rhone valley is symbolized by the planet Jupiter. Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Cotes du Rhone and Costieres de Nimes are each represented by one of four moons of Jupiter discovered by Galileo (Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto).

Bold and opulent, this Leo-influenced wine is a true homage to Grenache, Chateauneuf’s most emblematic varietal. This blend of major terroir types offers an extraordinary expression: the ripe intensity from the stone-covered vineyards, the richness of clay soils, and the purity of the sandy terroirs. Very elegant and harmonious, this wine displays a perfect balance between power and finesse.

95 Points - Wine Enthusiast

One of the last vintages made by the recently deceased Rhone luminary, Philippe Cambie, this fruit-forward Grenache-Mourvedre blend will be a sentimental tribute for many. The richly textured wine is packed with succulent black-plum and boysenberry flavours but spry and lifted too, edged by salty, stony minerality and a delicate white-pepper finish. Approachable young, the wine will likely improve through 2030 and hold further.
