98 Points - James Suckling
Spellbinding aromas of nuts, spices, dried flowers and dried fruits. This is an amazing wine with such depth of fruit and chewy, velvety tannins. It is big yet agile with wonderful texture and layers of fruit. It goes on for minutes. The structure is mind-boggling yet so polished. The mouthfeel is amazing, most likely from the volcanic soil in which the Campolongo vineyard's best grapes grow.
93 Points - Vinous
The 2006 Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico Campolongo di Torbe is a totally different animal than the 2007 tasted alongside it. Savoury herbs, some, tobacco, new leather and spices are layered into an explosive, full-bodied wine. At times austere and brooding, 2006 doesn't have the pure seductiveness of 2007, but it is powerful and certainly full of intrigue.
93 Points - Wine Spectator
A stylish red, with polished tannins and ripe flavours and aromas of strawberry preserves, black licorice string, tarry smoke and espresso. Sinewy tannins give this some muscle, but the components remain well-integrated. Spicy finish.
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Campolongo di Torbe shows aromas of plum cake, raisin, baking spices and a touch of leather. The palate delivers a nice depth of flavours that boast black cherry, white pepper, licorice and well-integrated oak notes.
