Montes Folly Syrah 2018

With the release of the first Montes Alpha wine back in 1988, Montes became one of the first premium wineries of Chile. The 2018 Syrah Montes Folly from Apalta spends 16 months in French oak, four-fifths new, and offers up blackberry jam, vanilla and smoked cigar box over a fleshy backdrop that adds the exotic touch one expects in a well-made Syrah. Taut and complex, it is more indulgent and juicy than the 2017 incarnation, with firm tannins.
