Product description
With the release of the first Montes Alpha wine back in 1988, Montes became one of the first premium wineries of Chile. Their premise, a clear belief that Chile had an untapped potential as a producer of quality wines, made them a benchmark for other wineries to follow. Its original four partners' total involvement and the continuous help of the angels that decorate their labels were key to their success. Years later, Montes is the fifth most important winery of Chile where Aurelio Montes continues leading the winemaking area with the same passion as the first day. Hard work and total focus on quality have made Montes one of the most successful and respected quality-driven wineries in Chile as they continue pioneering and breaking new ground in wine.

97 Points - James Suckling
Blackberries, blueberries, violets and dried herbs on the nose. Full body with round, chewy tannins. Juicy palate with a chalky texture and savoury character. Meaty notes on the finish, together with tea leaves and dark fruit. Lively acidity and some structure through to the end. Drink or hold.

92 Points - Vinous
The 2018 Syrah Montes Folly from Apalta spends 16 months in French oak, four-fifths new, and offers up blackberry jam, vanilla and smoked cigar box over a fleshy backdrop that adds the exotic touch one expects in a well-made Syrah. Taut and complex, it is more indulgent and juicy than the 2017 incarnation, with firm tannins.
