CVNE (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España), established in 1879, is a family-owned winery located in the heart of Rioja, Spain. Renowned for its dedication to quality and tradition, CVNE has been producing exceptional wines for over a century. The Viña Real label, introduced in the 1920s, is celebrated for its modern approach to classic Rioja winemaking, emphasizing the unique terroir of the Rioja Alavesa sub-region.
Wine Description
The 2016 Viña Real Reserva is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano, Garnacha, and Mazuelo, sourced primarily from the Rioja Alavesa vineyards. It exhibits a deep ruby color with purple reflections. On the nose, it offers delicate ethereal nuances, a hint of cassis and mint, and subtle notes of bergamot and dark hedgerow fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, showcasing a harmonious balance between juicy dark fruit flavors and savory undertones. Structured with fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity, the wine culminates in a long, elegant finish. While approachable now, it possesses the potential to develop further complexity over the next 5 to 7 years.
Food Pairing
This versatile Reserva pairs beautifully with grilled lamb chops, roasted duck breast, or a hearty mushroom risotto. For a cheese pairing, consider aged Manchego or a mild blue cheese. These combinations enhance the wine's depth and character, creating an unforgettable dining experience.
