Édition 1912m honours Mont Ventoux, standing 1912 meters above the sea and said to be the last real mountain of the Alpes chain, commonly referred to as the Giant of Provence. We first saw this wine in 2018 and loved it, but 2019 might be even better. The nose is highly inviting with rich pepper and red fruit doused with a savoury garrigue note. On the palate, more supple red/black fruit is lifted by violets and wild herbs. Ventoux is one of the coldest, windiest areas of the southern Rhone, and the freshness that crafts is reflected in this wine. The blend is close to 70/30 Grenache /Syrah, with Cinsault and Carignan traces in the mix. The vinification is in stainless and concrete tanks for fifteen days, and none of the wine sees oak. Outstanding value. Perfect for pizza, it will also perform well with charcuterie, meat pies, empanadas, and chicken salads.
