Il Farneto is the project of Marco Bertoni. Located in the hills above Modena and Emilia Romagna along the Secchia river, this estate started with 6 hectares of vines planted in the 1990s. Run bio-dynamically since 2003; the winery is worlds apart from the large, industrial wineries that dominate the area. Under the helm of winemaker natural Tommaso Turci, Il Farneto produces wines from indigenous grape varieties using only natural yeasts and traditional methods.
Made from a blend of 60% Spergola and 40% Chardonnay, this sparkling wine has lovely brioche and shortbread notes from 36 months of ageing on the lees. Fine effervescence is complemented by chalky notes of baked apples, almonds, and golden honey. Very tasty!
