Primitivo is said to carry the DNA of Zinfandel. OZV stands for “Old Zinfandel Vines,” which are the main focus of the Maggio and Reynolds families in Lodi, and this pretty-in-pink version represents their 30-year-old plantings. In this case, some Pinot Noir was added to make a decidedly bright and vivacious wine. Strawberry and tarragon—connected by a touch of white pepper and tomato leaf— precede a finish of pink grapefruit.
