Aligote is the red-headed stepchild of Burgundian grapes. It lives in the shadow of the other Burgundy golden children Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. For years Aligote vines have been ripped out of the earth to be replaced by these more profitable grapes. But this wine, this Aligote, tastes like the static in silence. It shows pure potential, capable of subtle soft energy. Tastes like baked golden apples, bruised yellow pears and lavender skies. Creamy and elastic on the palate leaving no crease uncovered. Lingering. A magnificent wine!
