Dujac Morey Saint Denis Rouge 2021

Product description

Louis Seysses, biscuit manufacturer and gastronome, had a taste for good food and fine wines. His son Jacques Seysses quickly came to share his father's passion, and he decided he would not only like to drink the wine but make it as well. With the help of his father, Jacques began his career in wine with an apprenticeship with Gerard Potel at the Domaine de la Pousse d'Or. He spent two harvests there during which time he was lucky enough to talk and listen to the famous Burgundian winemakers of the times whom he greatly admired.

Made from Pinot Noir grapes frown on clay and limestone soils. Fermented in stainless steel tanks, using naturally occurring yeast. The vines have been organically farmed since 2001.

93 Points - Decanter

The village-level Morey from domaine-owned parcels is a stark contrast with the négociant wine, with lovely, ripe mulberry fruit, a bit of smokiness from the cask ageing, and notes of rose petal and mineral. As you might expect, there is a bit more heft than in the Chambolle, more density, and a bit more grip.

90+ Points - Vinous

The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Village shows the stem addition slightly more conspicuously than the Chambolle-Village, white pepper and touches of bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, lightly peppered black fruit with notes of tobacco and dark chocolate towards the finish. This gains complexity in the glass. Promising - quintessential Dujac.
