Forgeron Cellars Blacksmith GSM 2018

This class Rhône-inspired blend is great by itself and even better with food. Forgeron picks, ferments, and ages each varietal separately and, following a series of trials, blends them together just before bottling. There is a reason that the French have been blending these three varietals together for centuries. The grape blend consists of 63% Syrah, 21% Mourvèdre, 16% Grenache.

The 2018 BlackSmith Rouge GSM is a gorgeous bright ruby red with aromas of dried sage, fresh raspberries, and white pepper. This wine always impresses with how well it shows in the glass, with upfront Grenache notes of red fruit on the palate leading into the bolder black fruit  notes of Syrah, followed by the spiced, rich finish of Mourvèdre.  This blend hits all of the marks of a robust and balanced wine, offering nice integration and structure with awesome approachability.
