Hilary Goldschmidt Charming Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

2 units available online.
Product description

The rolling hills and gentle slopes near the town of Sebastopol were once home to apple orchards filled with songbirds. By the early 1990’s though, most of the orchards were replanted with grapes. The factors that define a quality Chardonnay vineyard are numerous, but Nick Goldschmidt believes matching varietal and rootstock to the right vineyard site yields the most flavorful grapes.

The fresh bright red hue with purple edges leads into aromas of black cherry with hints of raspberry and black plum. The mouth opens with delicious vanilla and mocha merged with the same cherry and plum found on the nose. Enticing traces of graphite and a mineral essence build down the length of the mouth, joining pomegranate and more vanilla in the finish.

92 Points - Wilfred Wong

The 2019 Goldschmidt Vineyards Hilary Cabernet Sauvignon is demonstrative and persistent on the palate. This wine excels with aromas and flavors of oak, charred barrels, black fruits, and licorice. Pair it with Argentine grilled beef.

91 Points - James Suckling

This has ripe and smoky character with lots of dark and blue-fruit aromas, together with hints of spices and dark chocolate. Full body and a firm tannin structure. Has hints of blueberry jam on the palate, yet it’s fresh and juicy. Long, chocolatey finish.

90 Points - Wine Spectator

Stylish, with a flash of menthol giving way to streamlined cassis and cherry paste flavors wrapped in notes of red licorice, while hints of mesquite line the finish.
