Tait Shiraz Basket Pressed 2014

Product description

Tait is truly a boutique winery in all respects. Located in the small town of Lyndoch at the southern end of South Australia's Barossa Valley, the winery overlooks the spectacular Barossa Ranges and is owned and run by Michael and Bruno Tait and Bruno's wife Michelle.

Tait's winemaking philosophy is quite simple: produce hand-crafted, bold-flavoured, full-throttle wines that exhibit intense flavours and aromas. They use only the highest quality Barossa and McLaren Vale fruit from low-yielding vines, many of which are 50-80 years of age. All of Tait's wines are made on-site and are handcrafted using traditional winemaking methods.

Deep garnet in colour, Shiraz Basket Pressed is a little closed though reveals really lovely aromas of red and black fruits preserves, dark chocolate and cloves with hints of dusty earth and violets. Rich and full in body, the grainy tannins and freshness provide the structure through the long finish.

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2014 Shiraz Basket Pressed comes from a different Rowland Flat vineyard from the one that went into this bottling through 2010, with younger vines planted on unirrigated sandy soils. The style remains the same, with big, bold fruit backed by soft oak shadings and ample richness. It's full-bodied and velvety on the palate, with a long, fruit-driven finish.
