Product description

The Guado al Tasso Estate is located in the prestigious Bolgheri DOC, part of the Tuscan coastal area of Maremma, known for its untamed landscape and unspoiled beauty. Just 60 miles southwest of Florence, it sits on a magnificent plain in the heart of the Bolgheri amphitheatre, a natural phenomenon created by hills that embrace the sea and produce a mild and temperate microclimate.

Blessed with ample sunshine and constant breezes that take the edge off the summer heat and winter cold, Guado al Tasso is the ideal environment for cultivating healthy vine growth and proper ripening of the estate’s grapes.

A wine of ample aromatic impact with notes of mint, mocha, plums and spice, which follow and fuse with one another in a movement of constant energy and development. On the palate, the tannic texture is exceptionally full and silky. A wine of true profundity, length and elegance.

96 Points - James Suckling

Poised and focused, this is a young red that shows great complexity and style with lots of blackberry, mint, spice and rosemary aromas that follow through to a full body, chewy tannins and a long and flavourful finish.

95 Points - Wine Spectator

Alluring violet, black currant, blackberry, wild herb, spice and mineral aromas coat the dense underlying structure at first. Still, the latter emerges as this cruises to a long conclusion. It shows excellent balance and expression of fruit and place.

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2012 Bolgheri Superiore Guado Al Tasso is a wine to fall in love with at first sight. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot offers enormous fullness and generosity that accompanies all the senses. The effect is seamless, with thick extraction and richness contrasted against the fruit's tonic freshness. The wine is creamy, soft and enduring.

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast

Made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a drop of Petit Verdot, this structured red opens with exotic spice, pressed flower, dark berry and graphite. The concentrated palate offers black cherry, crushed plum, espresso and licorice. Round, smooth tannins balance the rich flavours.
