Clos Vougeot is surely one of the most famous Grand Cru vineyards of the Cote de Nuits as it is located right next to the Musigny and Romanee-Conti domains. This unmistakable winery is located in the middle of the vineyard and you can't miss it as you drive by the famous vineyard.
With almost 15 acres planted, it the largest parcel of Clos de Vougeot with some of oldest vines, over 100-years-old. Chateau de la Tour wines are the only Clos-Vougeot Grand Cru to be harvested, vinified, raised and bottled within the walls of Clos de Vougeot, just like in the old days of the monks.
On the palate, the Vielles Vignes carries notes of black fruits, orange peels, rose petals, fresh earth, and spices. Aromas of black cherry and berries are complex and layered. A full-bodied, powerful and multi-dimensional wine, it's deep and concentrated, with rich tannins, crisp acids and a long finish.
96 Points - Decanter
Slightly reserved at present, the tightly packed black and red fruit opens on the palate, accented with notes of violets, mineral, earth and wild herbs. This is powerful and rich, with firm tannins, lots of body, and the ability to age almost indefinitely.
94+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes is very promising, unwinding in the glass with notes of dark berry fruit, orange peel, rose petals, rich soil tones and spices. Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's deep and concentrated, with rich, powdery tannins, lively acids and a long, resonant finish.
