Borgogno Barolo Fossati 2016

Product description

The most historical winery in Barolo, dating back to 1761. The Langa's underground cellars are still a rare historical memory, and the wines are still prepared according to tradition: extended spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks without the use of chosen yeasts, and long aging periods in big Slavonian oak barrels.

96 Points - Wine Enthusiast    Underbrush, wild berry, rose and camphor aromas form the enticing nose along with a whiff of forest floor. The youthfully austere, savoury palate delivers ripe red cherry, raspberry compote, star anise, and botanical herb framed in firm, refined tannins. Bright acidity keeps it balanced. This stunner is definitely one for the cellar.

94 Points - James Suckling    Cedar and orange peel to the ripe plum character on the nose. Full-bodied with layers of fine tannins that are nicely interwoven with fruit and chocolate. Flavourful at the end. Just starting to open now. Drink or hold.
