Ogier Cote Rotie 'La Serine' 2018

Product description

Few Rhône Valley producers can compare to the history and pedigree of Ogier. The family name dates to 800 A.D. when “Ogier the Dane” came to fight with Charlemagne’s soldiers in the Basque country, and on his way back home, settled in southeastern France’s Massif Central region.  Antoine Ogier, a distant descendant of Ogier the Dane, entered the wine business in 1859, purchasing a cooperage and establishing “OGIER” as a wine producer in the nearby Rhône Valley. Ogier’s wines are an ode to finesse, elegance and freshness.

93 Points - Wine Spectator    Lively with anise, bramble, sweet tapenade, blackberry and plum compote flavours, carried by juicy acidity and framed by an alder note on the finish. Syrah and Viognier. Enjoy from 2022 through 2028.

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast   A kiss of Viognier lends hints of apricot and blossom to supple, concentrated black-cherry and roasted-plum flavors in this wine. An ample, profoundly ripe Syrah, it is lifted by crisp redcurrant acidity and a spray of dusty earth. The finish is warming and softly tannic. Ready now, the wine should improve through 2030 and hold longer still.
