Blue Spot's name was derived from Mitchell's practice of marking their maturing casks of whiskey with a mark or daub of coloured paint to determine the ageing potential of the whiskey.
Embodying the unmistakable qualities of Pot Still Irish Whiskey, Blue Spot is matured for at least seven years in Bourbon barrels, Sherry butts and Portuguese Madeira casks. Non-chill-filtered and bottled at cask strength, nothing is added or taken away, for a whiskey that is full flavoured and uniquely satisfying. As a colourful history would have it, this revered Blue Spot has remained underground until now and its introduction reunites the historical Spot Family for the first time in over 100 years.
Flavours of dried figs, dates, apricots and raisins along with roasted cashews and salted caramel. Rich flavours of chocolate and espresso form on the mid-palate into the finish, which has a warming heat.
