Sierra Negra is a name for a rare variety of the same species of agave that contains Espadín - however, this name can also be given to a variety of Agave americana. This special edition batch of Agave angustifolia var. Sierra Negra was produced by Maestra Mezcalera Karina Abad at Los Danzantes in Matatlan, from agaves grown for 10 years at 900 metres of elevation in San Juan Lajarcia, Yautepec, Oaxaca in sandy, eroded limestone soils. Notes of mild chile pepper, candied sweetness, light and heady smoke, and a warm tingle on the tongue with a medium to long finish. 100% Agave Sierra Negra.
