Oregon's Willamette Valley offers an ideal growing climate, where strong winds blow from the nearby Pacific Ocean and the mix of ancient volcanic soils and marine sediments from a prehistoric ocean floor lend intense minerality and complexity to the Pinot Noir grapes grown on them. Simple sustainable farming, hands-off winemaking and a passion for Pinot Noir dictate Averaen's mission.
Textbook Willamette Valley Pinot Noir with juicy, fresh fruit and berry flavors - think dark cherry, cranberry, blackberry, more cherry. Clove, mocha, blood orange and vanilla accents abound adding complexity. The texture is ripe and plush with a line of acid running through to keep the wine vibrant. The wine is all about focus, electricity, and verve.
91 Points - Vinous Dark, vivid red. Jammy strawberry and cherry qualities on the nose, along with a spicy nuance that builds in the background. Smooth and open-knit, showing good clarity and seamless texture to the appealingly sweet red fruit flavors. Subtle tannins make a quick appearance before fading into the lingering, juicy fruit. Best After 2022
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast This is a forward, tasty, fruit-driven style, loaded with fresh strawberries and raspberries. It opens broadly across the palate, lightly dappled with suggestions of popcorn and grain. Not for the cellar, but definitely for the table, it should be at its drinking best during the next three or four years.
