Product description

Burgundian wine Domaine Bouchard Pére et Fils, dates back to 1731; however, it is no longer family-owned. The company was purchased by the Champagne house Joseph Henriot in 1995, and as a result, the quality has improved. Bouchard is now led by Stéphane Follin Arbelet, with Philippe Prost, who has been with the company since 1978, producing the wines. The Domaine's Cuvérie St Vincent, an amazing gravity-flow winery on the Route de Savigny, was completed in 2005, allowing them to process all of their wines with maximum efficiency. Bouchard has 130 hectares of vineyards, including 12 hectares of grand crus and 74 hectares of premier crus, making them the largest vineyard owners in the Côte d'Or.

The 2017 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is a concentrated but delicate and elegant rendering of the clos, with a chalky tannic backbone. Drink 2025-2032.

"An excellent concentration of flavours that displays a subtle intensity and liveliness on the palate. Dazzlingly elegant, this Clos Vougeot Grand Cru perfectly blends finesse with sophistication. Seductive from start to finish, its complex nose gives way to a wine with good aromatic intensity. A noble wine that will develop in the cellar and completely reveal its potential!"  - Allen Meadows, Burghound

94 Points - James Suckling    This has very sumptuous aromas of violets, flowers and blue fruits that carry over into the mouth with a deep band of ripe, round tannins. Long and mellow finish. Great power and maturity here. Try from 2022.

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate    The 2017 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is elusive from the Bouchard holdings in the upper part of the Clos, as their lower parcels are being replanted. The wine reveals sweet cassis, wild berries, incense, rich soil and smoky new oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and layered palate that shows good depth and dimension. Vinified with around 50% whole bunch, this is a good bottling that will probably fly under the radar.
