Product description

Within their 19th century cellars, Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking procedures with time-honored practices. Each terroir and vintage receive specific care, resulting in unique cuvées. As a result, each bottle becomes a true expression of its terroir. 1er Cru terroir Les Porêts St-Georges is a tiny 18-acre vineyard located just south of Nuits-St-Georges' main village. The vineyard's southern boundary with Les Cailles is where Domaine Faiveley farms a piece of 4+ acres. The soils are dark brown, with limestone and granite gravel, with eastern sun exposure.

The 2017 vintage is deep ruby red with the nose disclosing black fruits, toasty notes, and a hint of oak. The smooth, round attack gives way to a powerful and structured mid-palate. It's a well-balanced and very persistent wine with excellent aging potential.

93 Points - Wine Spectator     Intense, sporting violet, black currant, blackberry and mineral flavors. Dense and tightly woven, this shows a cool reserve, yet should come together nicely. Best from 2023 through 2042.

92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate     The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Porêts-Saint-Georges is showing very well from bottle, unfurling in the glass with aromas of wild berries, cassis, candied peel, incense and spices, gently framed by a deft application of new oak that's already nicely integrated. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, with ripe but lively acids, a fleshy core of mouthwatering fruit and fine framing tannins, concluding with good length on the finish. The style of the vintage makes this an unusually open, forward rendition of Faiveley's Les Porêts-Saint-Georges, and it will offer a broad drinking window.
