Villa Poggio Salvi Brunello di Montalcino 'Pomona' 2015

Product description

In the glass, it shows a brilliant, intense and elegant ruby red. The nose is full and complex, and the hints of ripe red fruit and alcohol are intertwined with earthy and leathery aromas, followed by clear tertiary references of licorice, cocoa and coffee. The palate has an excellent structure, with powerful but elegant tannins.

94 Points - James Suckling

There's an impressive overlay here of ripe stems, highlighting ripe boysenberries, blackberry tart, bracken and brambles. The tannins are deeply indented on the medium-to-full-bodied palate with broad edges, in a succulent style. Medium-chewy on the finish.

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast

Underbrush, leather and tobacco aromas lead the nose along with a whiff of orange zest. It's full-bodied, offering juicy black cherry, star anise and nutmeg framed in velvety, close-grained tannins.

91 Points - Vinous

Dusty sweet cherry and plum mix with hints of mint, cedar shaving, white smoke and dried roses, creating the fruit-forward yet alluring bouquet of the 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Pomona Salvi Pomona. On the palate, juicy textures usher in a pure expression of red berries, complemented by saline minerality and zesty acids. The finish is long, showing this Brunello's first hints of grippy tannin, as tart blackberry fruit adds further tension, slowly tapering off to pretty inner florals.
