Sourced from average 65-year-old estate vines planted on rocky slate soils at 3,000 ft. above sea level. Vineyards are dry-farmed without use of pesticides or herbicides and then hand-harvested. Fermented in stainless steel before aging for 10 months in French oak.
The Bodegas Ateca "Atteca" is a deep cherry color. Intense aromas of red ripe fruit combine perfectly with the spicy notes of cacao, vanilla and licorice which correspond to a noble aging. It is very fresh and fruity in the mouth. It has a notable finish where fruity and spicy aromas come back via retro nasal. It is a magnificent expression of an elegant Garnacha from Aragon. Rich morello cherry and plum flavors are accented by mint, orange peel and sassafras notes in this expressive red, which has soft tannins, juicy acidity and a smoky finish.
