Toni Quiroga began his career in the wine industry 20 years ago, when he began working on his father's "el cubano" estates in Valtuille de Abajo. The foundation of this family bodega is 22 hectares. In the heart of El Bierzo, he has a deep love for his homeland and roots, as well as a respect for the region's traditions and customs.
Bodegas Cobertizo wines are made in accordance with organic production practices and beyond, with extremely minimal sulfites, much below the European ecological standard limitations. Viticulture is reasonable and sustainable, and Cobertizo gets the most out of the resources that these lands have to offer. In their red wines, they use 60-year-old Mencia grapes, and in their white wines, Godello vines (50 years). When vineyards are this ancient, equipment can't be used; everything has to be done by hand.
