Maria Victoria Montero started Bodegas y Vinedos Verum in 2005, but her family can trace their history in winemaking in Castilla-La Mancha back to 1788. Castilla-La Mancha is a large, hot, and arid plain in central Spain famous for producing Manchego cheese. Windmills dot the land, and it’s the home of Miguel de Cervantes’ iconic hero Don Quixote.
Bodegas Verum is in Tomelloso, a town 125 miles south of Madrid where wine-culture traditions and customs permeate everyday life. Maria Victoria and her family have always believed that wine is made in the vineyard, and this conviction governs their winery. To this end La Posada is made from only the highest quality vines, many of which are over 50 years old, and the winery and vineyards have been certified organic since 2013. Verum successfully combines modernity and tradition in the La Posada project, raising the quality standard of wines from La Mancha.
