Multi-award winning Glenfarclas Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky has been distilled on Speyside for six generations by one family – the Grants. The Glenfarclas Distillery was legally established in 1836, on the Recherlich Farm at Ballindalloch, in the heart of Speyside. In 1865, John Grant purchased the distillery for £511. Situated in the heart of Speyside – malt whisky country – Glenfarclas, translated from the Gaelic as “Glen of the green grassland”, nestles at the foot of the Ben Rinnes mountain.
The family-run distillery released this Glenfarclas Single Cask Whiskey from 1997 in the summer of 2022 for their Family Casks series. The single malt whisky spent its cask maturity from 1997 to 2022 in Sherry Butt #3. The distillery bottled the Scotch at cask strength at 56.0% by volume. As a natural Scotch, it also comes without coloring and chill filtration.
The whiskey penetrates the nose with fruity notes and spice. It smells of citrus fruits and oak. Herbs are present. The Glenfarclas Family Casks 1997 Cask 3 is peppery, spicy and fruity on the tongue. It tastes of oak and herbs. Behind are apples and oranges. Chocolate initiates the finish. The finish is medium length. The Scotch says goodbye with spicy oak. He leaves behind Herbs, Dried Fruits and Leather.
