Multi-award winning Glenfarclas Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky has been distilled on Speyside for six generations by one family – the Grants. The Glenfarclas Distillery was legally established in 1836, on the Recherlich Farm at Ballindalloch, in the heart of Speyside. In 1865, John Grant purchased the distillery for £511. Situated in the heart of Speyside – malt whisky country – Glenfarclas, translated from the Gaelic as “Glen of the green grassland”, nestles at the foot of the Ben Rinnes mountain.
The family-run distillery released this Glenfarclas Single Cask Whisky from 1998 in the summer of 2022 for their Family Casks series. The single malt whisky spent its cask maturity from 1998 to 2022 in the 4th fill butt #3723. The distillery bottled the Scotch at cask strength at 54.2% by volume. As a natural Scotch, it also comes without coloring and chill filtration.
The whiskey is sweet and fruity on the nose. It smells of lemons and oranges. Honey brings in sweet notes. Oak, on the other hand, provides spice with pepper. The Glenfarclas Family Casks 1998 Cask 3723 is sweet on the tongue. It tastes of oranges and chocolate. Behind are nuts and chocolate. The finish is medium length. The Scotch says goodbye with oak and spices, raisin and chocolate.
