Masi Amarone della Valpolicella Costasera 2018 - 3 Litre Bottle

Product description

Deep ruby red with brilliant reflections. Intense and elegant aromas of cherry and plum jam with hints of cinnamon and cloves. Firm structure, but soft on the palate. Velvety tannins and round acidity. The wine boasts a long and full fruity finish with a soft spiciness at the end.

Amarone is a full-bodied wine for grilled or roasted red meats, game, and strong tasty cheeses.

93 Points - James Suckling

Only south-west facing hillside fruit is used for the Amarones here, promoting a longer and slower appassimento process. Often the grapes are still on the vine come November, with extended appassimento on traditional bamboo racks. The formidable level of dry extract is consummate across a spread of bitter cherry, amaro bitters and dried herbs, strewn across the long, impressive finish. I like this. A wine for drinking rather than for the mantle.
