The Tempranillo Blanco variety genetically coincides 97% with the Tempranillo Tinto variety. The leaves and the shape of the grape cluster are identical, as is its sensitivity to diseases and pests. Both varieties have short ripening cycles, which allows them to be grown in any subarea of Rioja, even in areas where ripening is later. The vineyards of Tempranillo Blanco have a medium-high vigour and an average yield of 6,000 kg of grapes per hectare. The bunches of grapes are small in size and of low average weight.
