Product description
Bodega Chacra, founded in 2004 by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, is located in the Río Negro region of Patagonia, Argentina. The winery specializes in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, employing organic and biodynamic farming practices to craft wines that authentically express their unique Patagonian terroir. The estate is renowned for its minimal intervention approach, producing wines of remarkable purity and elegance.
The 2022 'Sin Azufre' Pinot Noir, translating to 'without sulfur,' reflects Bodega Chacra's commitment to natural winemaking. This wine is crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, sourced from the historic Cincuenta y Cinco vineyard, planted in 1955. The grapes are hand-harvested, undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, and macerate naturally. Aged for seven months in a combination of French oak barrels, concrete tanks, and handmade amphoras, this wine exemplifies a balance of innovation and tradition.
In the glass, the 2022 'Sin Azufre' presents a vibrant ruby hue. The nose is expressive, with aromas of pomegranate, red raspberry, strawberry, poppies, and rose petals, underpinned by a mineral edge. The palate is fresh and exuberant, offering bright red fruit flavors, lively acidity, and a nuanced finish that speaks to its natural origins and careful production.
This versatile Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, grilled salmon, or mushroom risotto. It also complements charcuterie and soft cheeses, enhancing both the wine’s vibrant freshness and complexity.
The 2022 vintage in Patagonia benefited from favorable weather conditions, which allowed for optimal grape ripening. Bodega Chacra's dedication to organic and biodynamic viticulture, combined with its natural winemaking philosophy, has resulted in a wine that truly captures the essence of its origin.
