Chateau d'Yquem 2020

Chateau d'Yquem 2020 is a prestigious sweet white wine from the Sauternes appellation in the Graves region of Bordeaux, France. As the only estate ever granted the title of Premier Cru Supérieur in the 1855 classification, it is widely considered the world's greatest sweet wine. Owned by the LVMH group since 1999, the winery maintains a legendary philosophy of excellence, often famously stated as 'yielding only one glass of wine per vine'.

Wine Description

This vintage possesses a pale lemon-gold colour. The nose is extraordinarily complex and ethereal, offering a bouquet of white peaches, nectarines, and apricots, intertwined with floral scents of honeysuckle and lilacs, plus exotic hints of pineapple and saffron. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and unctuous, yet it maintains a stunning harmony through a racy, vibrant acidity. Stylistically, it is noted for its purity and delicacy, featuring flavours of orange marmalade, candied ginger, and a subtle saline minerality that leads into a long, spicy finish. The varietal composition is 75% Sémillon and 25% Sauvignon Blanc. While delicious in its youth, it has an exceptional drinking window extending from 2023 to 2070 and beyond.
