Chateau Haut Carles 2019

Product description

Haut Carles, located in the Fronsac appellation in the Right Bank of Bordeaux is one of the older estates in the appellation. The actual Haut Carles chateau dates its creation back to the 1400s when it was used as a fortress. The vineyard is planted to a vine density of 10,000 vines per hectare for their newer plantings, which is quite high for the Right Bank, especially in Fronsac. The vineyard is managed using 100% organic farming techniques.

Haut Carles is best paired with all types of classic meat dishes, veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, roasted, braised, and grilled dishes. It's also excellent when matched with Asian dishes, and rich fish courses like tuna, mushrooms, and pasta.

93+ Points - James Suckling

This is layered, very polished and beautiful with chocolate and berry character and hints of walnuts. It’s full and compact with brushed tannins. Really well crafted.

92 Points - Decanter

Good texture, plenty of rich depth to this wine, clear difference in style and approach to the Chateau de Carles bottling. There are plentiful tannins and a lip-smacking mouth-watering austerity that will soften over the next three to four years. Good quality.

91+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Deep garnet-purple coloured, the Haut-Carles slowly opens to reveal notes of freshly crushed black cherries, ripe blackberries and black plums with touches of aniseed, red roses and forest floor plus a hint of iron ore. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with tightly wound black fruit layers, framed by firm, ripe, grainy tannins and tons of freshness, finishing long and mineral-laced.

91+ Points - Vinous

The Haut-Carles from Chateau de Carles has a fresh and appealing bouquet with greater definition and vivacity than regular bottling. The palate is well balanced with fine-grain tannins and well-judged acidity. A harmonious Fronsac with a smooth texture that glides across the finish.
