Domaine Armelle et Bernard Rion Bourgogne Aligote Vieilles Vignes 2020

Product description

Aligote is the third grape of Burgundy, often called the third cousin of the more profitable Chardonnay. That said, it’s been planted in Burgundy for over 200 years, and the variety is at its best in the wines of the regional Bourgogne Aligote appellation.

At Rion, the Aligote vines are nudging sixteen years, planted over gravelly, silty loams and clays. Aligote is always a skinny wine but in the right way with fresh acidity that perks up the palate, a touch of lees, and a lemony, green apple bright, refreshing finish. This laser-sharp white is great with creamy seafood and pasta dishes.
