Gaja Grappa di Brunello di Montalcino Rennina is a grappa from the country of Italy, specifically the region of Tuscany, and the subregion of Montalcino. The Gaja winery was established in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja in Barbaresco and is known for its high-quality Italian wines. The company's Brunello di Montalcino is produced at its Pieve Santa Restituta winery. Angelo Gaja, the current owner, has been instrumental in the winery's move to Tuscany, acquiring the Pieve Santa Restituta estate in 1994. The grappa is named 'Rennina' after one of the three single-vineyard bottlings of Brunello di Montalcino produced by the estate.
Spirit Description
This grappa is made from the pomace (grape skins) of the Sangiovese grapes used to produce the renowned Brunello di Montalcino wine. It is distilled in a continuous-cycle copper still. The resulting spirit is aged for 12 months in small oak barrels. The colour is bright, crystal clear, or light golden. On the nose, it offers a bouquet of mature red fruit, tobacco, spices, and a hint of vanilla. The palate is soft, warm, and persistent, with an elegant, dry, and balanced taste. It has a long finish. Gaja Grappa di Brunello di Montalcino Rennina has an ABV of 42.0%.
