In certain cases, ZYN is unable to guarantee vintages due to the Alberta Government distribution system. ZYN will do its best to ensure that the vintages on its website are updated and accurate. If ZYN cannot fulfill your order with the requested vintage, you will be contacted and you may choose to either accept the available vintage or cancel the product.
ZYN's goal is to ensure that all of our customers are satisfied with their orders. Should you need to return an item for any reason, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The following criteria apply in most cases:
1. If the item(s) is in saleable condition, the purchase price will be refunded. If the item has been shipped outside Calgary, the shipping charges are the responsibility of the purchaser.
2. Faulty items will be evaluated on an individual basis before a decision is made.
3. There is an inherent risk in buying older wines. While we store all of our wines properly, wines may nevertheless be defective. We regret that we cannot accept wines more than seven years old and cost in excess of $100 unless the producer agrees to replace the wine.
All deliveries within Calgary will be fulfilled and delivered by ZYN with some exceptions.
1. For any deliveries outside of Calgary, we will use a courier. It is preferred that you use a business address for shipping, but we can ship to most residential addresses and some rural addresses. Due to some courier restrictions, we cannot ship to PO boxes.
2. ZYN does not itself ship outside of Alberta. If you request delivery outside of Alberta, you authorize us to engage a shipper on your behalf to pick up your order from our store and deliver it as you instructed. You are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws of the place where you have directed the courier to deliver your order.
3. We primarily use a specialized courier that uses temperature-controlled vehicles. Shipping during the winter and summer months is inherently risky. Please be aware that ZYN will delay shipping if we feel that there is a chance your package may be affected by extreme weather conditions.

Silver Oak comes awfully close to being a synonym for California Cabernet. Launched in the early 1970s, the producer’s two Cabs, one from Napa Valley, the other from Sonoma’s Alexander Valley, earned cellar space quickly for impressive age ability. The iconic water tower on Silver Oak’s Oakville property and depicted on the label is recognized world wide. Even the smell of the wine is memorable ... hints of vanilla and coconut from the American oak barrels founders Ray Duncan and Justin Meyer chose for aging their Cabernets.
Silver Oak has now released its first new brand since it branched out with Twomey two decades ago, Timeless Napa Valley. The wine, a tribute to the late Ray Duncan. The song “Timeless,” printed on the back label, was co-written by Ray’s son David, now chairman and CEO, for the elder Duncan’s 85th birthday. It is an exploration of terroir akin to that of a single-vineyard Bordeaux blend. It’s also out in front of the welcome evolution we’re seeing among top California Bordeaux-style producers meaning the ability to achieve generous and complex fruit flavours while restraining ripeness, so vibrant acidity holds interest on the palate. It has ditched American oak in favour of French. “We’re not purists on American oak,” says David Duncan. “Just for Silver Oak! To make a distinct wine inspired by the greatest wines, and to make it distinct and apart from Silver Oak, using French oak was a great choice.”
The inaugural 2017 Timeless Napa Valley, from winemaker Nate Weis, is in fact a complex, seamless beauty, unfolding endlessly with high toned aromas of lavender, tobacco, forest, sage, anise, exotic spice, pepper and espresso under dusty red berries. With lovely tension across the palate, flavours evolve from red cherry and plum to darker fruit, with a pronounced and welcome savoury side and grippy but tamed tannins. It has that hallmark of a great wine, a sense of the myriad characteristics a place conferred in a moment of time while maintaining a structure that will let the wine age for many years.
Remarkably, for all of that, it shares the elder Duncan’s art of never taking himself too seriously. As David Duncan reports, “Ray always put ice cubes in his Twomey Sauvignon Blanc. No one judged him. When we toasted his life shortly after he passed, we did it with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, on ice.”
