Whitehaven Pinot Noir 2023

The Whitehaven Pinot Noir hails from the Marlborough region of New Zealand, with fruit specifically sourced from the Southern Valleys (64%) and the Awatere Valley (36%). Established in 1994 by Sue and Greg White, Whitehaven remains a family owned winery dedicated to the pursuit of 'quality without compromise'. Their winemaking philosophy focuses on using 100% Marlborough fruit to consistently create premium wines that express the unique maritime climate of the region.

Wine Description

This medium purple Pinot Noir offers a bright clarity and a lifted bouquet of red plum, dark cherries, and aniseed, complemented by notes of cocoa, thyme, and subtle wood smoke. On the palate, it is medium bodied and elegant, featuring juicy flavours of black raspberry and cherry entwined with dark herbs, cinnamon, and five spice. The wine displays a silky, rounded mouthfeel supported by fine grained, polished tannins and a long, broody finish.

The wine's bright acidity and earthy undertones make it an excellent match for lamb koftas, lamb ribs, or herb roasted duck. It also pairs beautifully with mushroom based dishes, grilled salmon, or mild hard cheeses like Gruyere.
