Product description
Suzor Wines is the story of Mélissa Rondeau and Greg McClellan. It is a tiny 1,400 case per year winery in Oregon's Willamette Valley that makes small lots of Burgundy-inspired wines from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Gamay.

Greg grew up in California to a French mother and Francophile father. Early, rich memories of his grandparents in the Loire Valley, immersed in food and wine led to his first wine job, as a cellar hand at Ponzi. A few years later, he became the assistant winemaker at Hamacher Wines. Pursuing a global understanding of Pinot Noir, he departed for New Zealand, and then to France, taking a post-graduate in viticulture and enology in Beaune. Returning home to Oregon, he became the winemaker for Trisaetum. Ten years ago, he decided it was time to go out on his own and create wine for himself. Five barrels were produced, and Suzor was born.

This Pinot Noir comes from two sites on the far western edges of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, in the foothills of the coastal mountain range, Menefee, which is Greg’s mother’s vineyard, and Fennwood. A single blend is created each year to showcase the nuances of the vintage through the balance between two distinctly different sites. The Tower is created in the vineyards, with immaculate fruit harvested at the right time to preserve the harmony between acidity, tannin, and fruit. The fruit is fermented with native yeast and aged in 20% new French barriques.
