Product description

Château Haut-Brion, the oldest First Growth estate in Bordeaux, has been producing world-class wines since the 16th century. Located in Pessac-Léognan, this iconic estate has set the benchmark for elegance and complexity in Bordeaux wines. Owned by the Dillon family since 1935, Château Haut-Brion has remained at the forefront of innovation while preserving its rich history and heritage.

The 2006 Château Haut-Brion is a blend of 57% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Cabernet Franc, showcasing the estate’s skill in crafting harmonious wines. Deep ruby-red in colour, this vintage reveals a captivating bouquet of blackberry, red plum, cedar, leather, and hints of sage. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and velvety, with well-judged acidity and supple tannins. Flavours of kirsch, briary fruit, and earthy truffle unfold elegantly, leading to a long, savoury finish. While already showing great balance, this wine has the potential to age gracefully for another two decades.

This exceptional wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, wild game, or aged cheeses like Comté or Pecorino. These pairings enhance the wine’s depth and create an unforgettable dining experience.

The 2006 vintage was characterized by a cool growing season, which resulted in structured, tannin-driven wines with excellent ageing potential. Despite the challenges, Château Haut-Brion’s meticulous vineyard management and winemaking expertise yielded a wine of remarkable finesse and complexity, exemplifying the unique terroir of Pessac-Léognan.
