The 86 Co. Cana Brava

Caña Brava is the premier rum introduced by the 86 Co., a partnership between industry insiders from Employees Only, comprising of Simon Ford, Jason Kosmos, Dushan Zaric, Malte Barnekow and Kris Roth. It is made from sugarcane grown adjacent to the Las Cabras distillery where it's produced in Herrera, Panama. It's made under the expertise of Master Distiller Francisco "Don Pancho" J. Fernandez, who honed his craft in Cuba before moving to Panama in the 1990s. The distillate is put through 5 continuous stills - four copper-plated and one copper and brass. It's aged at 75% ABV for 18-24 months in new American oak, then cut to 49% ABV and transferred to a combination of used Tennessee and bourbon barrels for 12-24 months. It is then filtered for clarity in the carta blanca style popularized by Bacardí.
