Deep, vivid ruby. Very pretty, focused aromas of raspberry, rose, minerals and Asian spices. Sweet red and dark berry flavors are complicated by graphite and candied floral qualities reminiscent of pinot noir. The finish features smoky minerals and leaves behind sweet red fruits. This lively wine is balanced to reward aging but tastes great now as well.
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast A graphite note and the essence of fine oak sit nicely atop a nose defined by blackberry, prune and raisin aromas. A tight palate qualifies as direct, while this Toro cruiserweight tastes of toasty oaky black fruits and pepper. A spicy dry finish doesn't waver, and this Tinta de Toro will age well; drink through 2027.
91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The 2015 Almirez was also produced with Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) grapes from ungrafted vines, fermented in stainless steel with yeasts selected from their own vineyards and matured in oak barrels, 30 of them new, for 14 months before bottling. This is a powerful, ripe and concentrated red that is generously oaked in the house style but shows very good balance and no excess.
