Benriach have long been a distillery to keep your eye out for if you're interested in whiskies with inventive maturation periods, and here's a perfect example! This 21 year old has been drawn from a mixture of four casks, bourbon barrels, virgin oak casks, Pedro Ximenéz Sherry casks and red wine casks.
Nose: Spiced fruit punch, with a touch of warming oak in the background. A few hints of zesty tropical fruit, too.
Palate: The Sherry cask-matured whisky really starts to take control on the palate, with milk chocolate and rain notes developing at its core. Lemon zest and shortbread.
Finish:A lengthy finish, boasting caramel and rye bread.
