Copain Tous Ensemble Syrah 2017

Copain Wine Cellars was founded in 1999 by the passionate and energetic winemaker Wells Guthrie. Wells was deeply inspired by his time spent in the Northern Rhone valley of France, apprenticing at Michel Chapoutier and building friendships with the likes of Jean-Louis Chave. Since then, he has been focusing his style and striving to make some of the most balanced, low alcohol, and food-friendly wines in California. Ensemble, “all together” in French, is a series of approachable wines that are perfect for every occasion, every palate, and every day of the week.

On the nose, hints of lavender, graham cracker, pie crust and wild blackberry. As the wine opens up, flavors of blueberry, anise and black cherry come forth. On the palate the wine is bright, but not too tight. An explosive entry and a plush finish make this wine perfect for early term drinking. While very much in line with the complex Syrahs in their range, this wine is the gateway to their Rhône wines. Softer, friendlier yet elegant and vivacious.
